Gene you are very kind. It was on tripod as well as mirror lock up, and a cable release. I also used a Darryl Benson reverse neutral density filter of 3 stops.

Virginia and Ray,
Thanks indeed for looking in and commenting. I am very pleased with this image. The morning did not look promising at first, but I was there and just stayed ready for something to happen and it did.
Ray you may definitely use this image in your work. I appreciate you asking. Let me know if you need a full size jpeg or the raw image even.
Be sure to let me know when and how you use it just as I would be interested to see it.

Thanks Dave....much appreciated.
I guess I would probably like to use the sky in a landscape replacement or with a car image using all of it...
If I do, I would give you credit for the wonderful shot and drop you a line to let you know.
Once again, many thanks and a super shot!
Best wishes

Now that's gorgeous, Dave!! I love the pinks and purples in the sky with the hint of teal in the surf. If I could get up early enough, I'd dry over to the beach for this kind of scenery! Nicely done!!
5D and which lens?

This is simply masterful. I keep saying to myself that I'd like to try and do more landscapes but the darn birds keeps me busy.
What a stunning presentation. :notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:

Absolutely gorgeous shot Dave!!! I really must start using ND filters. The increased DR especially for landscapes is considerable. I'll look into the Benson filters.

Thanks Robert. Always good to hear your input. Singh-Ray carries and manufactures this filter designed by Darryl Benson.
