Good effort, Ron. The detail on the shadow side (left) of the moon is certainly there. At 417mm, I think it's still a stretch and you did well with it. I've shot the moon at 560mm and felt I wanted more.

3/10 sec. in my opinion is a long exposure time as the moon is actually moving in relation to the earth. f/32 is also not going to be your sharpest aperture setting. Most lenses are sharpest around f/8. I think I would have boosted the ISO, opened the aperture somewhat and gone for a bit faster shutter speed. I'm only guessing here, but assume you used f/32 to keep those branches in focus. I would have probably ignored those and waited for the moon to move out into the clear.

I don't mean to be critical here, but assumed the cute little icon used with this post is asking for input. Just my 2 cents worth and hope I have not offended. Others may not share my opinion and I'd be interested is seeing what they have to say.

I actually like the branches! It was a pleasant surprise when I opened this thread to see something a little different - I think it works. :)

Thanks Harvey...That is exactly what I did before and it always looked like all the other moon shots. So I purposely went to f/32 and left the branches in, I was curious as to others feelings on the photo.... I don't think I can get it any sharper or clearer at that range.
I was trying for a printable moon shot, one that is a little different.

And thank you for the comments, they were right on the money I was purposely trying something different

Thanks Rudi and Lundrog. I stumbled upon the branches by accident and then went experimenting....
