I was trying for some more abstract types of shots today and this is one that I came up with. I was trying to find interesting lines and colors. So does this work?

I love this one, Nick. It has a really dreamy look to it and it's the kind of shot I have always been drawn to. To me, your composition is great, as is the focus control and background. Well done.

Nick I like the shot the way it is. The background is beautiful and I think the light is hitting the cattails just right. Normally for these type shots I prefer black and white but due to the lighting and color here I wouldnt change it.

Very nice Nick. Grass can make a wonderful subject.

I like the shot. The only thing I would say to make it better is if somehow you were able to isolate the primary grass "strands" to make them stand out a bit more. They kind of blend in together too much.

Thanks you everyone for your kind remarks. I will try more of these shots becuase I am liking them more and more lately. I think I got hooked by seeing Fabs (www.avianscapes.com) stuff over at Naturescapes.

Kevin, for this particular shot I didn't really want the main subject to stand out that much. As Harv siad, I was looking for a dreamy kind of look where there isn't necessarily one thing super sharp and sticking out.

Absolute great if that was what you were looking for cool; Myself I would have framed out the piece of grass half coming in on the right, I find it distracting. Remove more of the dull grey color off the bottom and showed more of that gorgeous bright background on the top. But as a whole there is a whole lot to like with that shot, congrats!

Very Nice Nick... Works for me... This would be the type of shot I would use for those corporate type posters that are so popular these days. Peacefull comes to mind..

That's kind of funny, the company I work for prints those. Maybe I could sell it to them

Beautiful!! I have tried for something similar in the past but was never happy with the results. Yours gives me inspiration to try again. I particularly like the soft tones and the simplicity. It works well for me because there aren't additional colour tones to complicate the image! gg:)
