I was on Dpreview yesterday just to have a look. They were all on about the latest firmware update for the 40D 1.05 and how you should do that.
Any way with the link provided I had a look and printed the the instructions. I down loaded the file to my program files. Unzipped it per instructions. Put a formatted card in to my card reader. And dropped the file on to the card, I could see she was reading as the light was going.
I checked the card per computer, to see the content. It showed the correct size of 8,187,036. I put a fully charged battery in to the camera. Put the card in, went to the menu were firm ware is. This is what the camera said:
CF card containing firmware
is required to update
cannot update
OK
So this has me totally stumped, what does this mean. Other than that it looks like I will not do any firmware updates.
Have any of you 40D owners done this update and how did you do it.
