want to buy scanner?

Im looking at purchasing a scanner, it is not predominately for photos but would like to do the odd negative etc, just a good overall, dependable machine , reasonably priced and comes with good software bundle, ie OCR

Any suggestions, thoughts, ideas :D

Epson make some fine scanners. Even the cheapest one does do negs and slides. I have the Epson perfection 1670, but that model has all ready been superseded.
