I sold my 30D, got the Mark II, primarily since I'm interested in sports.
Just fooling around at my house, backyard and such, I tried a few brief tests.
Using a 135 f/2L, on the Mark II...nice..very nice! Ditto for 5D, though focus is noticably faster on Mark II. Particulary in a dimly lit room inside my house. (no windows in upstairs office)
So I shot such riveting subjects as speaker grills, air vents ...in dim light, at 1600 ISO.
A couple of things I noticed, even with both cameras set to multi-AF point, the AF on the 1D was noticably faster, and locked quickly. Now the 5D is fast..and accurate, but not -as-fast.
So far so good...then I looked at the pics on my calibrated Apple monitor.
What jumped out me was the noise in the Mark II pics at 1600 (no flash). I mean, the 5D had noise as well, but less, it would appear.
I checked the camera menus, and the Mark II had in camera NR turned off.
I'm not sure how to check to see if the 5D has NR in camera, or whether you can turn if off or not.
I'm going to read the manual and find out.
