I currently have the full wimberley II for my 600mm , luv it. But functionality, and if your talk your 300mm upwards of a 500mm, hands down I would go back to a b-1 ballhead and a wimberley sidekick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! kevin might be willing to part with his rolleyes; ;) Flexibility and functionally it is awesome set up!

I started with a Kirk King cobra and found that I had issues cenerting the rig over the center of the tripod. I now have the Wimberly II (full) and find it a real joy to use with my 500mm.
I have never used a sidekick so no comments regarding that.

Well Harv,
I gots the BH-1 and Sidekick and use it quite a bit.. even on a monopod with my 200-400 lens.. To me it works great.. Compact and easy to setup and take down..
Anywyas you can easily switch from the big tele lens to a shaort landscape lens and just take off the sidekick and pocket it..
BTW if you want to try it out go directly through Wimberley.. They offer a 60 day trial on any of their gear... That means they will not charge you for the gear until the 60 days are up.. i.e. test it out and decided if you want to keep it and then call them and pay for it...
Sounds easy???

Harv, I sent you a PM. I've got the Sidekick and have been using it and the fluidity of movement is very good.

Thanks a bunch, guys. That's a lot of very useful information, particularly about their trial period.
Gawd, I love this forum. The knowledge base is incredibly deep. You guys are all great.

Fluidity is a word!
And a full Wimberley is overkill for the 300mm f/2.8, IMO. A nice ballhead with the Wimberley sidekick should be way more than enough... unless you're planning to buy a much larger lens in the future, Harv! :D
But, since I don't own either of those... potty;

Never heard of those....
How about Oxford, Cambridge, Meriam-Webster and Roget's New Millenium Thesaurus? It's in all of those.
From Oxford dictionary and in the context I used it:
flu•id•ity /fludti/ noun [U]
1 (formal) the quality of being smooth and elegant: She danced with great fluidity of movement.
2 (formal) the quality of being likely to change: the fluidity of human behaviour social fluidity
3 (technical) the quality of being able to flow freely, as gases and liquids do
