Hi, all!
This is the other subject we had to work with in Scott's class. The feathers were a challenge but Scott's videos and pdfs were so detailed and helpful that it made the results a lot easier to try to achieve. Photo was courtesy of Mike Warren. Those of you who have signed up are really in for a treat! Enjoy and hope to see you post your work here to share.

OH! PERFECT! Diane, didn't you find doing this eagle a lot harder than the portrait? You did a FAB job, particularly on the head feathers.

Thanks, Lisa - you're always so encouraging. I find portraits harder than the animals/birds I've done so far. My real "thing" is flowers so anything else is "out of my sandbox". I find that smudging portraits requires additional talent, if you will, in knowing where and when to put a highlight here or a shadow there - if it's not there already. It's the "little things" or the minute detail that makes such a difference. Scott touches on some of that detail in his class which is a help. This poor eagle has been messed with for so long by all the students, I'm sure he's ready to up and fly away!! :biglaugh:

Thank you so much Robert and Rob -- he's a beautiful bird! When smudging, it helps tremendously when the subject is as good as this one!

Thanks, Harv. Having never attended a class of any kind since old school days, this one really left me with a warm, fuzzy feeling and came away from it having learned something. Scott creates an excellent learning environment with his tutorials, pdf's as well as movies.

Wow, Diane, that's beautiful. And just the right amount of effect applied, still looks realistic, but pops!

Thats wonderful. Its the type of image I am hoping to create after I finish the class. If I get anywhere near this I will be very happy.

Really? You haven't been having very nice weather lately, if that's the case! Are you mixing it up with all those Spring Breakers on PC Beach?? shocked; Hopefully, you're further west than that. :wideeyed:

I'm glad you like it, Miriam. I usually don't smudge anything but flowers, but following Scott's tutorials made it much easier. :)

I'm glad you made it into Scott's next class, Ken. You'll like it a lot! :)

I really like the smudge effect, Very nicely done.

Thank you for commenting, Paul. The trick is to remember everything we learned! Having the pdfs and movies for reference will be a huge help.
