Since you three seem to be our resident creative Photoshoppers what Im wondering is how do I put a a small gleem or a wet type look to the whole photo?
I wish I knew the name for what Im after but I dont. The techniquie leaves the clarity but has a glow to it. Thats the best description I can think of and its not something as strong as the Orton techniquie.
Any of you want to take a stab at it?
Or how's this.....how would you process an photo like this ? What I did are a few layers,curves,saturation,sharpened...basic stuff.

Pete, let me check when I get home this evening. I think I know the effect you're referring to but I don't know its name.

I actually think this image would work well with the Orton Technique. If the default look is too strong for your tastes, add a new layer to the top of it and bring your original shot into that layer then reduce opacity to taste. It brings back a bit of realism back to the Orton effect.

Ok,sounds interesting. Ya know I forget to even mess with the opacity sliders.slam; I'll give a go Thank You!

Well.....here's 4 variations each done a little differently...less than a minute each :D

This is Dave's Ethereal Glow action.....

This is Feival's Gothic Glow action....

This is the Orton Technique...the action recently posted by Joe Colson @ DPR..

This is me just fooling with the Diffuse Glow filter in PSCS2.....

Didn't try different layers/opacities etc....just the straight action/filter....take your pick ;) ;) ;) Not sure I'd fool with it though it is gorgeous as is :)

Thanks a lot for the examples MikeI think I like the second one the most. Maybe the treatment Im looking for is the same one I've seen done to wedding shots? I think I'll venture down to the bookstore and see what I find.

Pete:

I don't know if this is what you're after. What I did here was duplicate the original image. Then go to filters>other>high pass and set the radius to 10.
Invert that layer and set the blend mode to soft light.

If there's too much softness to the surrounding foliage, you can use the soft edge eraser at about 50% and go around everything but the waterfall.

It's hard to choose which one is the nicest. I like the mist in the 1st one Mike posted, then the Feivel Glow one is intense, the Orton Technique is slightly so and LIsa's version is subtle.

Initially I was thinking about that "plastic wrap" filter on the water but have been out shooting all day and haven't had a chance to play with it. I don't think that's what you have in mind, though.

No problem Kevin,I think Lisa's effect works fine for what I was after.
Each one of Mikes could have its place down the road too.
