I started looking through his site. I was particularly interested in his 400mm lens comparisons. Very neat site...thanks for posting it here.

I like his "in the field" approach to testing.

Not surprisingly, like most "JPEG only" shooters, he completely misses the point of why RAW is ultimately the better format... rolleyes;

Lately, I have had a lot of fun walking down the trail with a Canon 30d and a 400mm 5.6L. I love the light weight and ease of handling. It certainly encourages me to get out more.
I am familiar with Michael Furtman's experience with Minnesota weather. If you want a change in the weather, wait a minute. I am encouraged that Canon equipment is much more weather resistant, and durable, in marginal weather than I might have been willing to test. I probably won't let a little snow drive me out of the woods any longer, just because I have my camera equipment along.

Thanks for the link, seriously.
While I havent had the time to go through the entire site, the first place I visited was his "Articles" section.
I'd love to spend some days with this guy, picking his brain.
He is one of a very, very, very few who has all the elements for photography AND fishing.
Most angling photos/essays etc are guys who know fishing but not photography and use PSs or Dslrs on auto mode. Pick up any fishing rag and youll see what I mean.
Then, few photographers who know photography, know much about fishing and conservation as it pertains and from an anglers pov.
:arghh: :arghh: :arghh:
One day, thats where I hope to land. My backgound in angling and at some time in the future, photography good enough to go with it.
The only thing hes missing is Fly fishing :)
