I made that switch, got my first D200 in Dec. 05 when they first shipped. The big questions for me were:
1. 5fps vs. 8fps
2. Cam1000 vs. Cam2000
3. 10.2 vs. 4.1 MP's
As far as the "feel" between the two cameras, not much differece at all when you put the MBD200 on, substantial difference without. I shoot mostly birds, animals and moving people, which is why I was concerned about the fps.
I have found that the difference between 5fps and 8fps does not seem to lose me any more shots that I missed before just because I started at the wrong time. I tend to shoot shorts bursts, mostly 3-7 shots, with an occasional 10-15 shot burst. There are differences with the AF, I find them most noticeable in low-light/low-contrast situations where the D2H excels. But the D200 is certainly no slouch, just takes a bit more time and effort in those cases, which I find acceptable. For me, however, the ability to crop more deeply is big. Often I can't fill the VF with my subject, and the ability to create a high quality 5mp inmage by throwing 1/2 of the image away is a huge help. So, when I put these all together, my decision was made, and I don't regret it. One thing I will tell you, however, is that I struggled for the first few weeks with the D200. The added resolution exposed every single stupid thing I was doing in my technique, and I had thought I was pretty darned good. For me it was mostly an issue of camera stability, and once I got "me" ironed out, I'm a happy camper.
My suggestion to you is to get to a store where you can try one, find a dim corner and see if the AF suits you.
Be aware as well that 3 times the file size translates into time and storage on the computer end.

I have both. If I'm filling the frame or in low light situations I use the D2H. Everything else I use the D200. The extra MP does come in handy if you are cropping but the D2H files uprez better then the D200 files. The AF is better on the D2H on average. I have more in focus shots with the D2H. In bright light they are pretty close. I like the D200 better for scenics.

errr. guys i really do like my D2H specially the shutter sound. but it seems they both are pretty much the same except Cam 1000 VS Cam 2000. and 4 MP VS 10 MP. Body i think D2H is still the winner

Hands down the CAM200 is better than the CAM1000 for focus aquisition and tracking. Especially in low light.
