Yup...came out of th box on Thursday night and was in the gym on Saturday morning at 11:00. I have absolutely no idea what I am doing with this camera. I have had little time to really study the manuals....
I could not get the damn ISO to go to 3200 for some tests I wanted to try. Found out I needed to set ISO Expansion to "on"...live and learn.
Thanks for looking and writing.......

Randy:
I think you did a fine job with these. Gym lighting is horrible but you did great with these.

Excellent in door action shots, Randy! Was this Nikon or Canon (iso 1600)? What lens and apt? Thanks.

Ah...sorry about that. This was with the 1DMKIIN... I used every lens I brought to the event...my 50 f1.4, 85 f1.8 24-70 f2.8 & 70-200F2.8...all wide open. And yes, ISO 1600 across the board.
I shot RAW just in case on the WB as it was set to Auto....
I ran these through Bibble Pro with a very light noise reduction (10% of what I used to apply to my D200 files) and slight lift oin sharpness (about 1/2 of what I use don my D200 files). No WB adjustments were necessary and that was a pleasant suprise.
My only complaint was the metering seemed to under-expose by about 1/2 stop....I need to figure that out a little bit.
Thanks for looking and writing.....

Not perfect and still some learning to do....but considering my challenges with the Nikon at these venues, I have to say I did smile once I saw them up on the screen. It was nice to not have to fight these in PP....and yes, I shot RAW so we can throw out the Canon, in camera argument. The CMOS sensor is hands down better in low light than the CCD in the D200.
Interestingly enough, the next several meets are at the same gyms as last year, so i can see how the two cameras compare as I kept all of last years shots online.

Considering these are 1600 I'd say they are pretty darn good. I love the last shot. I think you are going to love the canon in this environment.

Thanks Bobby. I am happy with the early returns....and based on the shots I took just knocking around the house, I think this will work for most of my environments for awhile. Kinda wonder why I took so long to figure this out.
