For a show...??

I am getting ready for a show in a month or so and this is one of the images I am thinking about displaying......an old one for some of you.....what do you think...?? :confused:

The only "negative" I can come up with is that the horizon seems dead center. But then the dilemma what to sacrifice? I really like the rays at the top but would probably crop a bit to offset the horizon.

What is really fascinating to me is the sailboat "inside" the sun's reflection. It almost has a surprise effect for me.

As it is, I do really like this shot.

Could Mike crop off a tad at the bottom instead?

For my own personal information my question is, since Mike already has the sailboat away from the center, does he still have to apply the rule of thirds to the horizon as well?

See? That's the dilemma I have with this particular shot. Because the sailboat/sun/reflection are so dominant in the composition (in a good way), the mid-horizon isn't distracting for me. I like the shot and would hate to lose anything.

Good to know that Kevin. I looked at this in PS and tried to crop it because of the rule-of-thirds but couldn't really come up with a decent crop. The image suffers, even slightly, with any kind of cropping...

That's going to be a tough one to crop to 16 x 20. Have you tried it yet? May end up shaving some off the top or bottom, after all.

I'd definitely put this in the show! Beautiful shot. There is plenty on the right than can be cropped to try and get the 16X20.

I just think that is a terrific shot! I like how the sun just lights up the clouds. It's a beauty!
