great shot and timing! curious, how do you handle the WB when shooting in the arena?

Automatic white balance (shoot RAW+JPG). I post jpg and use the RAW for fine tuning when printing. I don't usually set the white balance due to the colour cycling of the lights. Some arenas also have lights that don't match colours or colour cycles so it is patchy.

Great hockey shots Stewart. The AWB seems to handle arena lighting well. I have to go over to the new arena and try some shots at a Generals game.

Great catch... for both you and the goalie.

Good shot, Steward. In fact it's as good as most anything published. I also think the camera did well with the high ISO (1600) and the wide aperture at 1/500th sec. Just fast enough to 'freeze' the action.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Hockey is one of my favorite sports to shoot.
