The D80 would make a fine backup camera and it will give you the extra mp for scenics. What is it you like to photograph? Isn't the 70-210 a manual focus lens?

Allot comes into play here, especially when it comes to budget? 70-210mm d lens is a great af lens, lots of these push and pull zooms out there but not all d lenses. you want the D lens, you can find them for around $200US for mint condition. Was one of the very first lenses I ever purchased, then moved up to a 80-200mm af-s lens then moved up to the dbl ring version, then up to the 70-200mm VR lens.

What Im trying to say is it is not always cheaper to the long ways, I have learnt that finally. LOL.............. Bodies come and go but glass is forever :D

I agree with Keith. When it comes to glass, keep saving up for the better stuff. The D80 would make a great backup, but do you need a better backup or more glass?

hmm. all of you guys are right :notworthy: ... do i really need a backup camera just because of hight MP? Lens? I currently have the 18-70mm Kit lens, 50mm 1.8 and 70-210mm F4. they are all pretty good on the images.so maybe planning to get a Macro lens. hehehe

If you like doing macros then you may want to consider the Micro 105 VR.

or the 200mm micro, now that is a sweet macro, only down side is slow AF but hey I was able to shoot hummers with it :D Deciding factor is the distance you will be shooting macro, 200mm gives you a little more breathing room but you may not need it. Gary is right the 105mm VR is a sweet lens too, just closer focusing

you shouldnt have to worry too much about cropping based on your longest glass is 200mm and shooting style, so do you really need more MP's? just a question, but I will reside with my glass answer ;)

I guess in this point yes i really need more MPs. but i am sure after i got the new body then it will be just like " naa. whatever. same thing" to me. :cute: and since the D80 is a smaller size of camera compare to my D2H and i do travel pretty offen, therefore i don't have to carry all the stuff around like an Army.
