I'm headed to minnesota in a few weeks and will be about 1.5hrs north of Minneapolis staying in Sandstone. I have a free day on Sunday to do a bit of photography and was wondering if anyone here is from the area and could suggest some good wildlife or birding spots close to Sandstone.
I notice Banning and St. Croix State parks are close to where I'll be. Not sure if they're worth checking out.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
thx
Kevin

It's been many years since I was in that part of the North. I'd probably try Googling "Sandstone & wildlife" or something similar. Might also be worth checking for Minnesota info on the Naturescapes regional chapters forum.

I found this one Minnesota Wildlife Connection (http://www.minnesotawildlifeconnection.com/index2.htm)
and this one Audobon Center of the North Woods (http://www.audubon-center.org/)

I believe Roger is from MN and he may have some suggestions for you as well.
Kevin, that is a great link. I must keep that in mind for when I go to MN this summer.

If you'll be that close to Minneapolis you should try hitting Mall of America, maybe not a ton of photo ops, but there's a great photo store in there, and tons of great stores!

Thanks Kevin...MWC is actually the reason for my trip....spending Saturday photographing wolves, lynx, fox etc. Hopefully will find some interesting places to go on sunday.
