A little better venue last week. I have not had time to really PP these, just a run through for noise and a res-size for posting to the website....the girls are sending me hate e-mail as these were supposed to be up on Tuesday....but I was traveling. :)

Some quick examples....I'll have more cleaned up versions later this weekend, but I got to try out ISO 3200...not as bad as I thought....

The whole mess is here: GBGymstars Door Cty Meet (http://www.ymcagymstars.com/2006_07_events/DoorCty/DoorCtyJalbum/DoorCounty2007.html)

Thanks Rudi....

VERY happy. USM lenses at 85 & 50 mm are so much more accurate and faster than the Nikkors. I was going to wait for PMA and the supposed new D3H. Glad I just bailed when I did....heck, that D3H may not be around when gymnastics starts back up in September....I might need a 1DMKIII by then!

The 1DMKIIN has done everything I asked....still learning though.

I blasted these though Bibble Pro last night in about an hour. I did apply some sharpening and noise reduction to the CR2 files and batched out as a Jpeg. I used about 1/2 of what i used to use for my D200 NEF files. The result is retained detail that I like.

I have been putzin with DPP and need to understand that program better. It appears that if you select no noise reduction and save the file as a Jpeg...it applies some amount of default noise reduction....but we'll see

Looks pretty good from here and if the camera has done everything you've asked of it, you have to be happy. Glad to see it's working out for you.

Thanks Bob.....I think things are starting come around a bit now.

So far I would rate the change as a 9 out of 10. My two complaints:

1. The 580EX flash system is really bad
2. My early assessment of DPP software is not very good....but I do not understand that well yet either.

You certainly seem to have solved all your high iso, minimal noise with the Mk11. Can you imagine the new bad boy is supposed to be even better at 3200 than the 2 at 1600. I'm pleased to see you are happy with the results. Sometimes this turns out to be "The grass is always greener" scenario but not this time.

WTG Randy, well done.
Looks like the new system is working well for you.

Thanks All...the equipment change was a good thing. I was surprised at how complicated things get inside the CF menu's. Lots of cool wasy to really screw everything up!

I owe most of you a big thank you as i showed up 8 weeks ago asking lots of questions....your answers really helped me make the change. It may sound funny, but it affected alot of other folks as most parents quit shooting pix of their daughters at these events.....the fact that I can now routinely post 100+ clean images instead of 50 marginal ones makes that many more people happy....IMHO anyway.

Thanks all....
