Here is a snap of a Dragon fly that is smilling... At least I think it is....
I would have posted it in the Macro and Flora but it is a bit fuzzy and the glare from the water and I could pick a lot out that I see wrong, but I really like the pose... My first head on shot.... :)
F9 417 mm and 1/200th sec shutter

Great! Heckuva shot for a blooper......I like the blurring of the wings. You can almost hear him coming at you:)

Thanks Lisa,
I am still experimenting with my bigma. Learning to handhold it and keep steady........
I like the blurred effect as well, but had I had an attached flash with high speed sync I would not have seen that, Learning, Learning, learning....
Sometimes haveing less is more....:)

Oh my...I really want to learn your "snap" technique Ron!! Fabulous shot!!! I don't see anything that needs changing. The glare and slight fuzziness adds a feel that I like, and at 200s you're bound to get some fuzz because... he is flying. A faster SS and that wonderful wing movement wouldn't be as pronounced. What lens did you use for this one?
Killer shot!!:D

I used the bigma and was at about 20 feet away and 417mm and F9.

Very cool shot, the fact that you obtained focus on one of these in flight is an accomplishment, the blurred wings is a bonus, very cool. Nicely done!

Thanks all, from what I learned, I will have to try for different shutter speeds if given the opportunity..... The more I look at the picks from this day the more I am starting to like....:)

My hat is off to anyone who can capture one of these on the wing. Great catch. I love the blurred wings as well.
