Hi folks....wondering if anyone is using or has used a close up filter? Couple of questions...If you have used it, would you recommend it? Also is putting a Close-up filter on a macro lens not recommended?

Thanks

Ashley

Hi Ashley:

I have used a Canon 500D on my 70-200VR and 85 f1.4 and I like the results. The reason I have one in addition to a dedicated macro, is for convenience sake. I don't have to carry around all those lenses all the time.

That said, I have put Nikon 6T on my macro lens and found the area of focus to be RAZOR thin.

I'm hoping Martin or Pam can add a little more info as far as using a Close up filter and macro lens combo.

canon 500d for me on the 70-200mm f2.8 ,really shallow DOF but incredible sharpness. Best $100 spent and a lazy mans macro, the VR or IS works great

I'm sorry that this adds nothing to the thread but I also have to say those are awesome shots. I'll be wandering off now to buy a new filter....
