If you can only do one trip in the next 12 months that would be viable, where would you want to go and why?

That's easy... Alaska. I don't have to tell you why if you've seen images from there.

If $ were no object? African safari.
Realistically? Alaska, but with a stopover in the Canadian Rockies to shoot with some guy that I know up there. Maybe take that highway 40 North to Alaska. Now that would be cool exploring the Yukon and NW Territories. See, I can't just choose one place. Always have to be difficult. Sorry. :(

That's easy.... the Rockies of southern Alberta, provided I could get Keith as a guide. The coast of B.C. is also high on my list.
I've travelled to both areas on a number of occasions over the years on business but never with a camera.

When the company is as good as it was for me, I'd drive a month! I like exploring and I think that part of your country is just fascinating. Cliff piqued my curiousity with that one shot of his.
Hey! Maybe we could have a Canuck-ville get together. I'd come for that. ;)

What a great post! i have been having travel lust for awhile now.
Sorry I can't choose one;)
Winter in Minnesota. why? I have been dreaming of mammels in the snow of any type. This trip is fairly inexpensive and I get a good variety.

mount evans, colorado
why? to shoot mountain goats. Also being the highest paved road in USA would be neat to see:) and maybe landscape:(
Winter in yellowstone

Africa for lions/leapords
alaska
Amazon for jaguars/panthers.
still researching this one. will need a betterbeamer first and some more skill but WILL do this someday.
Trip to various Pixel-shooters places for photography and to meet online friends in person.
I guess reasonably and affordable I am looking at either colorado or a pixel-shooter visit.

Planning a trip to San Diego prior to the end of the year - Sea World, Wild Animal Park, San Diego Zoo etc.....should be some good photo ops amongst those planned activities.
Luckily, I live a short distance from Yellowstone and get to shoot there almost every year. Winter in Yellowstone (as mentioned above) is simply gorgeuous and unique due to the geo-thermal activity in that area.

Probably a 4 to 5 day guided fly fishing trip in Montanna by Horseback (packtrip). Glacier, Yellowstone, Swan-Seeley any or all would suffice.
Been thinking about this one years. For my 40th my wife gave me the green light to go anywhere I wanted for a week. I hemmed and hawed about fullfilling this dream vacation, deciding the end to take my daughter to Ontarios far north instead.
After that a week in Belize spent on an atoll, flyfishing the flats for Bone and Permit with assorted trips into the rainforest for photography.

Just one place!
How about China. Some pretty good 2 week tours. Ruled it out because I have decided to try and not be held to a scedule.
Scotland. Lots of neat stuff without all the tree we have in BC. Did this last year but more of a return to your roots trip.
Utah. Read too many Louis l'amour western. Love those red canyons.
Alaska. Lots to see.
Mexico. It's warmin the winter , lots of ruins and warm. Did I mention warm.
Africa would be interesting but too expensive.
If I had to pick just 1 it would be Maymar. The place was closed for many years and is still very unseen and looks very unique. The pictures would be great and who else could say 'want to see my Maymar gallery'

Great thread! My wife and I have several places on our 'wish list' to photograph and explore. However, this is going to be a good year for us so I can't complain (dream maybe though).
We just got back from Arizona with the Grand Canyon, Antelope and a few other nice areas. Put up a few pictures from there recently.
In November we're off to the Galapagos which has been on our dream list for years. Also on the list, in no particular order....
- Antarctica
- Africa and safari
- Namibia
- Tuscany
- return to New Zealand (lived there many years ago for a short time)

Ummmm so many exotic places yet to visit, however my all time favourite place has to be is London(and surrounding area) England. I love the history, architecture, museums, art galleries, the theatre district, and just the hustle bustle of daily life there. I know people travel to get away from the rat race, but I'm actually one who enjoys it. It's a really great place to give your camera a workout, day or night, with so many photo opportunities. Only drawback to visiting there is our crummy CDN$ so I'm unable to visit there as often as I would like to;(

Great thread --- I'm really enjoying the reports.
After being to the Galapagos Islands last year, and Antarctica in January, I'm sort of worried about doing another great trip. While I came home with several good pictures from the Galapagos, and I suspect I have a few that are alright from Antarctica, if I ever get around to down loading the cards into the computer, generally I am so disappointed in my pictures (for Antarctica what I could see from the viewing screen on the 20D and a few I put onto my laptop while on the ship) I really hate to think of spending any more $$$ on a trip until I learn to better handle a camera.
However, that probably won't stop me, and I am keen to "do" Alaska, Ireland, and go back to Africa and China, so .... ?????

I forget the name of the river North of me about 5hrs, The Grizzley gather and fish, also Brackendale about 1hrs north the Largest number of bald eagles
Gather I believe 1500-3000 in the gathering. Thats from Vancouver B.C. I thought of flying to eaurope but better stick to my backyard as I have not seen that much of it. I use to work a bit north and had timber wolf packs and griz all around us, but was too stupid to have a camera. But we may have stole the hearts of the bald eagle but being Canadian we exported some Canadian gease to replace the missing eagles LOL.
