:biglaugh: too funny (again!) I don't think I've ever seen that many gulls in one spot (it's almose a Hitchock type moment!)! (nice sky too!)

LOL Where was this Ron?

It's actually a sea gull rookery but it was just after the chicks had fledged last spring. It's on the harbour side of the Hamilton Harbour spit. As well as gulls, cormorants nest there.

God loves you when it comes to skies Ron. Either that or you're a very patient man. As for the No Trespassing, I suspect these are Quebec sea gulls protesting that the sign isn't in both official languages.

Fun shot, and a good one!

Neat shot Ron, I thought I recognized that skyline. If they had a contest for the ugliest lead in to a city Hamilton would win hands down.

I can see you've never been to Winnipeg!

To the south we have our floodway as the main attraction. A ditch in the mud, empty 352 days a year. In the east we have Symington yards, a real turn on if you're into railway box cars. To the west we have Headingly Goal and as you come in from the north you're treated to Stony Mountain Penitentiary. Oh yes, there's also the new land fill up north, quite an attraction on hot days.

I don't mean to hijack Ron's wonderful seagull thread, but I can't sit by and let Winnipeg be maligned. We have taken ugly urban landscape to depths other cities can only deam of!

And why do we boast how awful Winnipeg is: cold, ugly, mosquitoes, no jobs, etc. ? Simple, we don't want anyone coming for a visit and staying. These damn $150,000 homes and $25,000 summer cottages tend to do that to people. And how long are these homes and cottages going to last if people move here? So don't. It's awful. Go away. If you want to move, that's why God created Vancouver and Melbourne and Chicago. You wouldn't like it here. We have to be at the airport 30/40 minutes before a flight! And it takes us 10/20 minutes just to get there with a $12 taxi ride --- I know, OUCH!

Hamilton, beautiful. Winnipeg, ugly. Got it?
