Hi everyone,

As you might have heard, I have added another camera body to my stable. While I do not clean my sensor excessively (usually when it REALLY, REALLY needs to be done :D), it has to happen once in a while, and I am looking for an easy and effective way to do it. Up until now, I have been quite happy with the wet method, except that now one of my camera bodies is supposedly allergic to Eclipse fluid (I clean my sensor with pure alcohol, but will have to rethink that now).

I now have both a full frame 5D and a 1.3x 1D Mark II N. I have heard good things about the Arctic Butterfly. I am thinking of purchasing one for the 1.3x crop sensor, and using that for both my camera bodies (it will just take a little longer with the 5D). So, exactly how good is the Arctic Butterfly? Anyone here use it, and if so, how happy are you with the results???

I occasionally clean my sensor just using a bulb type blower as per Canon's instructions. This method does not always remove all of the dust bunnies.

Rudi, I have an Arctic Butterfly 724 that I purchased some time ago. When the blower method leaves dust bunnies behind, I reach for my Arctic Butterly and have found it does an excellent job. I'm very pleased with mine. Through 3 camera bodies over a little more than a year and probably close to 15,000 actuations, I have never needed anything more.

Hi Rudi - yes I now use this as well. I've also used the rocket blower and from time to time eclipse and swabs for that 'hard and fast' stuff. The butterfly is overpriced but I have to say it works and I now think almost nothing of taking off the lens and giving a quick, gentle swipe with the brush. Works very well.

We use it too...it's worth every penny as far as I'm concerned! It takes less than a couple of minutes to clean the sensor and leaves no headache in it's wake. Frankly it's one of the best accessory purchases we've made.
