Anybody using this? My AVG is doing some really irratating things lately.

This morning i had a small AVG update icon on the bottom of my screen but there was no update as far as i could tell and then it proceded to lock up my computer, the only way i could turn off my computer is by using the power button on the tower, that cant be good. 20 min later a AVG window appears on the screen saying updating in progress, waited 10 min and nothings happening and my computer is locked up again:arghh: :arghh: :arghh:

Iam not having a good day.

Paul, I have used AVG for about two years now. I have had version 7.5 since it was released. It worked great until a couple of weeks ago when it started telling me it was not updating. A couple of days ago, I downloaded the most recent version (7.5.446) and re-installed it. I think I somehow corrupted a file but all is well since re-installing it.

Paul,

I also use AVG but all my updates are manual. I receive a message when I'm out of date and then simply "Check for Updates" and download the patch. That way, I never have a dreain on resources when I'm working on something else.

I have avg for last 4 months, and no problems so far!!! No lockups or nothing, to me sure beats Norton.

I feel your pain, atleast up until our server gives free anti virus and spywear protection, now we run without the garbage on the pc's. But they were quite a pain before.
