For those of you who know me, you would be well aware of how happy I am with my little Fujifilm Finepix F30 P&S digital compact. I bought the camera after doing much research and asking a lot of questions around the forums at the time. The F30 was the undeniable King of high ISO performance, as far as P&S cameras go.
Well... the King is dead. Long live the King! :D
Fuji have brought out the F30 successor - the Fujifilm Finepix F31fd. For those of you considering a P&S to supplement your DSLR gear, you'd do well to check it out. You can find a comprehensive review here:

I think it's great, Bobby. The best part, when you take into account how much stuff we tend to spend on our gear, is the price! $290 USD, or a little more wherever you live, but that is cheap, and you get to have a camera always with you (unless you forget, like me :)).

While these little camera's can take great shots, the largest problem I have with them is the slow focusing speed, and long time to take a picture both from power off and shot to shot. Meaning, that if you see a shot and you have a camera in your pocket, your going to miss the shot if it's fast happening shot. It has always disappointed me, because one of the advantages of a small camera, is to always have it with you, but if it reacts to slow, it does little good. :0(

There's no perfect camera, Roger. You pay for portability in other ways, and in the end it is up to you, the photographer, to work around your equipment to make the photos you want to make. Of course, sometimes that does mean having to buy other equipment! :D

Roger, just turn the camera on when you leave home with it in your pocket. Easy fix.

K, so I couldn't wait for my DSLR anymore (sorry Rudi, I tried, really I did) and I treated myself to a Fuji Finepix S700. It was a steal after my trade-in lens at Henry's...here's a few shots from yesterday and today...comments welcome!
