Nice shot! It just amazes me the detail the camera can get of the moon. I'm going to have to try this.!

Mike, this is excellent. Lots of detail. I saw what was the brightest moon I've ever seen last night. I actually called Bob and told him to go outside to see it and maybe photograph it.

I have done a few "moonshots" (seriously) in the past....so some of it is just experience...but usually 1/250 & F9-11 will get a full moon pretty well....at least it is a starting point....:D
For these I just set shutter priority at 1/250 and spot metering and let the D2X decide the aperture....then I just gradually upped the shutter speed to 1/400 to get some variety.....sometimes I bracket manually starting with the above settings..:) :) :)

Thanks, Mike...I usually end up spot metering as well but ALWAYS have to use a tripod.
The moon has been exceptionally beautiful in the past few days:D

Mike,
Lovely clear image! I will have to wait for some moon shots and hope it doesn't turn blue in the meantime, :) because my 70-200 TC14EII combo doesn't get me far enough out into space.:(

Thanks Robert....the 400mm is quite nice for this...(along with a little cropping in PS) :)
