These have been posted before on another forum and some of you may have seen them there. I thought that some members here likely haven't seen them yet and might enjoy them.

These are some of the photos I took at a Canine Agility Trial during the summer.

These were all taken with the Sigma APO 100-300 f/4 EX DG prior to Bobby wrenching it from my hands, never to be seen again. Well, other than attached to his camera of course.

Awesome, Harvey! You have captured the dog agility training beautifully. Amazing to see these animals at work. The one of the Doberman is a standout! Excellent....

Thanks a lot Lisa. Yes, the Dobe was a beautiful dog. Of course, I'm prejudiced towards shorthaired dogs as I'm a vizsla owner. :D

This was a lot of fun to photograph, even though I was getting the evil stare from the paid photographer.

Thanks, Bob. Yeah, I still have lots of gear but you're on your way. :D

I had often watched these trials on TV as well, Ann. This trial was held less than an hour drive for us so we decided to go. It's a lot more fun in person.

They were using small white pails turned upside down with numbers painted on them to identify each obstacle. During one run, a Golden Retriever saw the pail at the side of the jump, stopped when he cleared the jump, picked up the pail and carried it as he finished the course. I've never heard such loud applause and laughter. Unfortunately, at the time my camera was in the car.

I hear ya about short haired dogs, Harvey. I grew up with Dobes. After I moved out of the house, I got into Goldens.....go figure:rolleyes:

Cute story about the Golden, BTW....so typical of them:)

Great series Harv - just super shots of a really fun event to shoot I would think. I'm a dog lover as well, although mine is not quite as talented as these guys. :D

I'm a big Golden fan, too, Lisa. After I retired and decided to get back into sporting dogs, I looked at 3 breeds.. Goldens, Weims and Vizslas. I had owned a field trial Weim years back who was small, fast and high energy. They had changed a lot over the years and now you'd be hard pressed to find one under 80-90 lbs. I also pictured a Golden after a day our bird hunting and all I could envision was a burr-ball. I wanted a high energy dog and opted for the Vizsla.

Mine are field bred and extremely high energy. On the fly the entire time out. Also very easy to maintain. We bred a litter last year and ended up shipping pups from one end of the country to the other. However, some are close enough to keep an eye on and that's a lot of fun. We plan on doing it again in the spring.

Here are pics of a couple of the pups...

Thanks a lot, Jared. As always, I appreciate your kind words. By the way, dogs don't have to be talented in any official sense to be great pets. Most are characters in their own way and we love them all.

Harvey:

Thank you for sharing these photos, Harvey. You are right about the Golden Burr balls....I used to do Working Certificate training years ago and that was only one of the reasons I stopped:eek:
