One thing to always keep in mind when these problems are reported is that the user is generally required to open something or go somewhere. I've often wondered how one finds the bad websites. My guess is they are usually offereing something for free or something too good to be true.
I don't open any attachments or images when I am not sure of the source. The group of photographers I keep in contact with often will send shots of something they got and want to share with the rest of us. Attachemets on the Mac are opened with Preview instead of Photoshop so that really helps.
What seems to attract the sort of person that spends their time trying to break into others computers is the money. There is big money to be made in hacking. Too bad those energies are not directed to productive work that benefits people instead of buidling and corrupting egos.
