I'm not set up to do planetary but here are a couple I captured with the 20D and LX200 in prime focus. These days the best planetary work is being done with web cams like the Toucam Pro II. Hundreds of frames are stacked to produce amazingly detailed images. The Saturn shot shows the befaore and after Photoshop work. Under steady seeing conditions Saturn will hypnotize. On those rare occasions I'll sit and stare at and its moons for quite a while. A real crowd pleaser at public events.

You're probably getting tired of hearing all these accolades but these are just way cool! I also appreciate seeing the difference in the before and after.

Did you take the Mars shot a few years back when it was at its closest?

Thanks gents.

Kevin, I shot this last year. I photographed Mars back in 2003 when it was so close as well but unfortunately I wasn't set up with the 20D and LX200 in prime focus then.
