Perhaps like many I have accummulated a number of Photoshop brushes......in fact, a lot!
I was going to organise them in the Adobe>presets>Brushes folder by dividing that into folders and putting the brushes in there for each category.....i.e. splatter, other types etc....
Each type in its own folder BUT.....is that the right or best thing to do?
When looking for brushes in CS2 I open my brushes and have to click to the arrow on the right to identify what type it is...I would like a quicker and easier way of identifying...
Can you help/advise please.
Thanks a lot

Ray, yes, brushes have a way of accumulating and multiplying that's for sure.
One needs to reset to the default and then, as you've suggested, put the brushes into sets so you can locate what you want easily.
Basically this is a file management problem. Everyone works a little differently so how you organize should probably be based on your usage patterns.
You might consider having a set of brushes you use all the time as your main brush pre-set. Then add smaller sets of specialized brushes.

Thanks Virginia
I have also had some advice about moving brushes out of the main Photoshop program and storing elsewhere in the event of problems...seems a good idea. I may move them to D drive instead of keeping on c drive in the event of a crash etc.
Also, the use of folders is recommended so that does seem the way to go.
I have backups of all plugins and al presets but you never know..
Appreciate the help...as always.
Best wishes

Ray, I would suggest that you do just that. Make a copy of all brushes, gradients, actions, presets etc to another file on your harddrive and it certainly wouldn't hurt to burn a copy to CD for back-up purposes.
When you set up your brushes in CS2 from the tool presets dialogue you can name the sets to group different brushes. Make one group Favorites for your regular use brushes.
To show what the brush looks like go to the brush flyout menu and choose Large Thumbnail, Large List, or Stroke Thumbnail.

Hi Ray
I was just wondering what you use your brushes for? I have seen them in use with graphic design combined with photography. Is that what you do?
