Hi folks,

Would like to hear about what methods, technologies, systems you are using to store you photo images. I have noticed that my images are piling up and I am trying to delete as many as I can, especially those which I cannot foresee using.

However, this has necessitated purchasing an external Hard Drive, but even this is starting to get maxed-out. Maybe I shoot too many shots!!

I would also like to hear about what type of redundancy system you have in the event of hard disk failure- as can happen from time to time.

Does anyone use Re-Writeable CD-ROM's to store images?

Please advise as this has become a bit of an issue for me and I am not the most organized person in the world
Cheers

Ashley

I use two external hard drives and gold dvds to keep my "Master Print" files. All the others go on dvd. Hardrives can fail, and regular cd-rom and dvds will degrade in a few years. Gold is suppose to be the best bet, from what I've read.

I know the issue/problem, I think we're all faced with this same issue one way or another. One of the first and perhaps the hardest thing to do is sort out those images that aren't necessary to store anywhere. That, for me anyway, takes care of a whole bunch of images. Then I keep copies of raw files and processed files on two external drives. I have a 2nd internal drive that I keep copies of just the processed images on and I make DVDs of everything.
