Here is a shot that I like a lot but had some distracting elements in it. Let me know if I succeded in drawing attention to the bee or if my processing was overboard. Thanks!

It's an improvement Nick. If it were mine, I'd probably go further yet and remove the gap between what used to be that brown/tan thing and the leaf. I'd be tempted to remove the dark area bottom left either by filling it in or cropping. The white line (vein) is somewhat distracting but not much you can do with that.
What are these guys called? I've seen a few of them in the recent past. Their vivid green against yellow flowers was pretty neat.

Thanks for the input Kevin.
They are called Sweat Bees, hence the thread title. They are from the Family Halictidae (http://bugguide.net/node/view/128).

I really like what you've done.... the line doesn't bother me as I accept it as a leaf vein..... GOod captured. I also just learned something new: didn't know these were called Sweat Bees!!!

I like it, neat looking bug  , very cool colors! If I had anything to add, I would remove some of the negative space on the left side and give a little on the right. Being its a close up and not so much a composition you might gain there. Just a thought
