Ok I have worked out how to connect my 1dmkIII/WFT-E2 wireless unit to both my Laptop and home pc. The WFT-E2 connects to the laptop via the laptop's wireless unit and the PC via the wireless access point in the house. This wireless unit is pretty powerful and awesome. What use I have with it is another thing, just an expensive toy:biglaugh:
Firstly I can take pictures from as far as 160ft away and it will automatically download to either my Laptop or my home PC (depends on which unit I have the camera paired to - can only pair to 1 pc at anyone time). The speed of the download is pretty quick and I can view a 13mp file in 2-3 secs on my PC.
I can also enable live view from my PC and take control of my camera. I can focus and take pictures from the computer and have live view of what the camera is seeing on my LCD display.
Basically I can park my camera on the race track and take horse jumping events from my laptop as I am not allowed to get too close to the jumps. Great for sports photography like tennis or concerts etc where you can basically be at 2 places at one time with this setup.

This is the the control for remote capture. See the blue bar just below the battery logo and the picture that I have just taken is being downloaded to my computer

See in less than a sec the blue bar has progress so far. Thats almost 13mp of data. I have taken the 2 shots immediately one after the other

Once the file is downloaded Canon's DPP viewer automatically opens for you to view the file

Clicking on the button where the mouse pointer sets camera to liveview and for computer to take over the control of the camera

Live view from the camera. Unfortunately the liveview is me :). See the top right where the mouse pointer is. Thats where I control focus and white ballance
