We had an open date, when this section opened, so tonight I got a few new shots. Lighting was horrible..as usual. I used a 30D, 200 f/2.8L..at 3200 ISO.

It was indeed 3200...I also set exposure to plus 2 1/2. Horrible lighting..but I'm pleased with noise performance...helps when play is closer and I can use flash.
End zones (last photo) are like dark dungeons.

Well, the camera only goes to 1600 ISO, then I have to set a CF to get high ISO, which I understand is 3200.
You can really see the 3200 (grain) in the last photo. Flash, sort of offsets the ISO setting, when the play is close enough. (1st photo).
But believe me, it's nothing I'm doing. The 30D get's the credit here. It's just a good camera. I can't find any bad photos I've taken, that could be blamed on the camera. ALL were user error.
I tried 1600...and it wasn't enough...to get high shutter speeds at f/2.8. Friday night lighting is that bad.
Best I could get is 1/500 to 1/600 at f/2.8 and ISO 3200, with flash set to Hsync, and manual 1/1.
Still having fun though.

Really nice work Jeff.......its wonferful that Canon has been able to get what it can out of ISO3200.....really nice to have that as an option in situations like this. Great facial expression captured in that first shot.

Thanks Jared...

I really would prefer to shoot at 400 or 800, but then my shutter speed would be so low. In the middle of the field, it's pretty well lit. I was using a 200 f/2.8, so I stayed between the 20 and endzone for most part. 3200 was the only thing that would give me 1/500 SS at f.2.8.
But it's fun.
