Has anyone seen or used a Feisol Tripod?

They have a new model coming out that looks interesting, especially for a travel tripod. I like the short length of 16.9" This would sure fit in my luggage better. The introductory price looks to be $309.

What is the build quality of Feisol?

Max Height

Weight 1.0kg / 2.2lbs
Max Load 10kg / 22lb

I've only heard good things about Feisol. I think Dewey uses one, but not sure. I know Ed (equetefue) had(s) one as well and it seemed pretty steady.

What I'm not sure of is the QR plates and system and if they're propietary or will work with Arca-Swiss style plates.

You know, and this is just personal opinion here, but I look at the Feisol web site (type "Feisol" into Google), and all of a sudden paying the extra $200 for a Gitzo doesn't seem like that much! :D

I have owned my feisol for a while now and I have nothing but good things to say about it. My only complaint is you can't loosed the legs with one hand, but it hasn't been a deal breaker by any means. It is super light, very solid, and came with everything I needed. i got the tripod and ball head they had on special many months ago. The ball head locks in securely and doesn't move. It has very smooth motion to it and has been very reliable. Overall I give it a 9/10 and the price for a full carbon tripod can't be beat. I looked at Gitzo before I bought tis one, but this price was just too good to pass up.

Kevin is correct, I do have a Feisol, it is my "second" tripod used along with a Gitzo 1325. I'd put the Feisol right there with the Gitzo as far as feel and apparent quality goes, it is always difficult to judge ultimate quality but fit and finish is sure as good. As I am a cheapskate, I bought both of these used, the Gitzo for $400, the Fesol for $300. The Feisol I have is the 3471, I sold a Gitzo 1228, great tripod in its own right, to purchase this. The 3471 is as sturdy as my 1325, just a bit heavier, and with 4 sections folds shorter for travel. As this is most often used by my wife, the lowest section of the legs is generally not extended, but even these are quite a bit larger in diameter than I had expected.

Solid as can be, and about half the cost of the equivalent new Gitzo's as I recall.

I love my Feisol.... Light and very sturdy. Did great holding a sigma 120-300 f2.8 at one point.

Go for it.
