Here's a few from Saturday 10-21. Great day for shooting.
First 2 are my daughter fighting for the ball and then her kick:

Here's my first ever "compression shot" - look at the ball compressed on her foot:

Here's one I call the "smell of fear" - what an expression! No Soccer players were harmed in the making of this photo. :p

Here's a 100% crop showing the flying "divot" from the person who kicked the ball (camera left):

Here's a very nice stride into the ball:

Great first post, Joe. Superb quality in those images. Sharpness, colour, exposure, peak of the action. They have it all. Excellent work.

Thanks Keith. I used my favorite - Capture One. Used the included sunset profile for more saturation and punch.

Hi bobby, thanks very much. She surprises me with her aggressiveness on the field given her sweet demeanor off the field. Guess it's "game face". :D

I love the expressions you capture shooting sporting events. Especially that one girl who looks more terrified than terrifying. ;) That compression shot is pretty cool, too. I'm amazed at what you can do with that f4 where most other sporters can barely match these with a f2.8.
Glad you're here, Joe! We need more sports photogs, too!

Thanks Kev, appreciate the kind words. Funny you mention the f4. I enjoyed shooting Soccer so much I'm tempted now more than ever by the Canon 300 2.8. The extra stop sure makes a difference on subject isolation and a tad more sharpness never hurt. It's also nice to have 420 f4 with TC. I think the real gem of the Canon line is the 400 2.8 but it's just out of sight $$$. 300 is still a bit short on 1.3 crop and FF.
BTW, I saw your post in the FS thread about the Sigma. While it's a fine lens I still don't trust sigma with that kind of investment would ultimately hold off for the Canon.
