I found this discussion over on DGrin and thought you might be interested. I tried it on a few shots and it seems to work much easier than the tools themselves.

Neat trick! Working on non destructive layer is always the way to go.

Check out my Paint With Light (PWL) actions at www.atncentral.com (http://www.atncentral.com)

You can change the blend modes for different effects. Another reason for using this method is you can PWL in color!

Thanks for these links, Chip, and it is great to see you on Pixel Shooters! I use your PWL actions frequently - they're very useful.
