Actually, I have been looking (with only one eye) at ringflashes for macro work. I own AB studio lights and am really happy with them. I'd be tempted to look more closely at this one, though I don't know how the price compares.

I know this has been discussed alot on dpr and that Paul Buff (owner of Alien Bees and White Lightning) is a participant there.

It looks really nice for studio work but it is not portable, you have to plug it in. Price isn't too bad @ $400. Ring lights give really cool catch lights in the eyes at close range.

I think the app would be fashion for sure, Lots of forward burst.
Heehee an inverter on the left side belt and a car battery on the right, look like a pro.
