Took this whilst diving at Puerto Galera in the Phillipines. Not the clearest shot in the world but when you look at the size of the fingernail behind the sea horse you get to realise how small they are. Also as you are getting moved by the currents it is extremely difficult to focus. I used an Olympus 5050 with Ikelite housing. The main problem with the 5050 is the shutter lag. You have a shot in focus and press the shutter. The current gets you and by the time the camera takes the shot you have moved.
I have more shots of the sealife around Puerto Galera if anybody would like to see them.

Already said, but bears repeating -- WOW!
Thanks for sharing something I'll probably never see in person.

Thanks for the comments. They really are tiny and I wouldn't have spotted it without a guide.
In fact the guide told me that he had been watching a programme on TV where they were showing these Pygmy Sea Horses. They live on a particular type of coral which looks just like the Sea Horse. The guide thought that we have that type of coral round here. He spent six months searching the coral before he found the first Sea Horse.
They really are quite amazing.

Hi Dave
Just came across this which I must have missed as posted some time ago.
Great image and cannot believe how small the sea horse is.....
Appreciate the difficulty with the OLY 5050 which makes this shot even the more better.
Great work.....talking of which....see you at work tomorrow!!!!!
Best wishes

Amazing shot David!
I can imagine how difficult it is to get a good shot in those conditions.

Jonathan
