The local firehouse had an open house 2 Saturdays ago to let the public come in and look around a bit, so I strapped on the 10D and took my son down there. He, of course, had a blast playing on the trucks and the sort and dad got to take some snaps on the inside of the fire station - which you don't get a chance to do very much.

These were some hoses all lined up in a row - ready for use at some point. The pattern of them there caught my eye so I grabbed this shot. It's kind of turned into an impromptu DOF experiment........plus they were some of the more colorful hoses that I had seen.

I will post more from this outing as I have time to look through them.

Thanks for looking..........

Great example of why one should always have a camera. Day out with your son and a photo shoot at the same time. Do you have any of him in the house?

Interesting perspective Jared, I like how the newest hose is also the sharpest!

Look forward to seeing more of the series.

Jonathan

Nice comp and colors, Jared. I look forward to seeing more.

Thanks David - I will try to get some more put together and post them soon. I had not seen a lot of red fire hoses in my day - so these did catch my eye.

Nice colors.

:)

Thanks much - had they been all one color I may not have even looked twice to be honest.

I do have some of him on a classic fire engine and some of the newer ones, will try to post when I get a chance. And I agree Bobby with trying to always have the camera with you - many a day saying to myself "that would have been a good shot"......

Thanks Jonathan for your comments - I did try to make the newest looking hose end the point of focus in this shot.

Not too much more that I can think of. My son is enamored with fire fighters right now so I knew that this open house was something that we needed to do. I would have been able to get more shots like this one if my son had not been pulling me in nine different direction while we were there. I don't blame him - it was a 4 year olds dream come true in there that day. They even had a small house on wheels there that they pull around to schools, they fill the top half of the house with smoke somehow and then show the kids how to crawl to the exits. That is some good information for them, that impressed me.

Cool, interesting perspective.

Thanks Ann, I appreciate the comment.
