I'm new, so if there is a thread out there someone has posted or read, please let me know. If you've seen the ad for Clariton(spl?), you know the problem I have with my Nikon D200. The images almost always have a dark "film" over them, so I use the Auto Contrast in Nikon Edit 6 on most pics. What setting to I have wrong?

Could you post a sample picture with EXIF information? I can't promise that I will be able to help, but with a sample we (others in the forum included) may be able to figure out the issues, if any.

My guess is that you are shooting with the Default values set, which in my opinion are quite suboptimal.

First thing I would do is to go to www.nikonians.org and download the suggested settings spreadsheet. It has 4 banks worth, try some of these and see if things don't "pop" better for you.
