Taken at my cousins wedding a few years back. I was not the 'official photographer' but did take shots all day long and I'm glad that I did. They ended up not being happy with most of what the paid photographer took and a few of mine are on their wall instead.
I was happy to have helped. These are both neices of mine, they were excited about their responsibilities on the day............

Pretty good shot. D60 days? I am sure they were happy with this. The paid guy probably didn't get any candids like this, huh?

Thanks Craig. You nailed it too, the paid photographer ONLY got the posed shots that she put together. She did not capture any of the "fleeting" moments that I was able to capture just walking around and talking to people.

Thank you very much Ann, I appreciate that. They did not expect their picture to be taken at this point- so it came out pretty natural.

Very beautiful, Jared. I like shots of children doing what they do naturally.....kind of reminds me of Norman Rockwell....

Thanks very much Lisa - I appreciate you taking a look. Pretty flattered by the "Norman Rockwell" comment.........I love his art.
I got the chance the visit MBNA headquarters in Wilmington, Deleware at one point on business a few years back and in their building adoring the walls of one particular floor they had many, many ORIGINAL Norman Rockwell pieces. I could have looked around there all day.

Jared, this is a beautifully executed candid shot of two swet looking young ladies. It's just a great shot and I really like it. I'd be happy to hang it on my wall if they were my kids.

Thanks much Harv.........I don't think that they hung this one up, but the girls mother was very pleased with this. I just leaned out of my chair on the aisle and snapped this (with my wife jabbing me in the ribs at the same time...)

Thanks Mike - much appreciated.

It always amazes me how many pros choose not to even try and capture candid stuff like this! I mean, I am already at the wedding, so I have a choice of standing around and waiting, or walking around and snapping while I wait - I always choose the latter! There are too many saleable images available, and the client is always happy with the candids - always!
Well captured, Jared!

Thanks Rudi - I appreciate you taking the time to give it a look. I shot three weddings myself over the summer as the "main" photographer and on two of them took my wife along with a second camera and her only job was to walk around and capture the "stuff" I was missing while getting all the posed shots. Her shots were usually the more popular ones to be honest.
I have heard of a shift in wedding photography (and have seen some weddings shot this way) where the posed photos are out and the entire wedding is shot kind of free-form. This is very appealing to me and if I could go back ten years and have my own wedding shot this way - I probably would. Wedding parties spend SO much time getting everyone in a row and making sure that each group is shot 10 different ways....I think that we over-think the process at times.
