Some folks know it's there, but it's a bit of a hassle to see it. Gotta hook up with a tour bus through Kennedy Space Center I believe. Fortunately for me, the lighthouse sits barely 100 uards behind the field office i work out of!
Even when you get a tour bus ride, I don't think they let anyone out to walk around. There are some issues with liability and ( a familiar topic these days!) lead paint. The paint on there now is good, but when they were scraping the old stuff, turned out to have lead in it. therefore, after scraping half of it, there is now also lead on the ground! That's the story anyway!

I'll be trying to see if I can cash in on this somehow perhaps, so anyone know a good postcard company, let me know! ;) It's not the best pic, but I figure with the rainbow and all, I might have a shot! Might need to lighten them up a bit. Feel free to critique the PP job, I'm all ears.

Here's the original (pp'd of course!), shot with my D200 and Tokina 12-24

Had to clean up some safety cones and powerpoles and lines.

And here's the cropped version

I love the cropped version! A very pretty photograph Thomas.

Just curious, how far is this from the water?

Nice shot, I think I saw that rainbow over here near Gainesville, couldn't get a decent shot though.

Thanks everyone! I've got several pics of this thing in a few stages, like when they put the new crow's nest (?) on it and such. Really need to dig'em up and keep'em together.

It's original location was on the tip of the Cape. Sometime in the late 1800's they moved it a mile inland due to beach erosion. They had refurbished it and replaced the crown and had a re-lighting ceremony early this year, so it's still shining brightly every night.
Being on the Cape Air Station, it is unfortunately restricted access, you need a badge to get on the base, or be escorted via Kennedy Space Center Tour.

Thanks for your comments. ;)

I agree with the others Thomas, the cropped version is a little stronger compositionally. I have a thing for lighthouses, and this one is a little different from the ones I'm accustomed to, being black & white rather than the usual red & white. Well done!!
