These are really great Martin. How do you handle lighting?

Thanks Rob, for lighting I used a on camera flash with large flat diffuser mounted on end of lens.

Martin,
Those are awesome. Why use tubes on the Tamron 90, though, if you aren't going to use closest focus? I can get larger images with just my Tamron 90.
Take this one, for example: http://www.pbase.com/duncanc/image/84869713/original.jpg
That's nearly full frame, and was reduced quite a bit for posting online.

That's a great pic Duncan, but I was at closest focus with the tube and all, it was a very small jumping spider probably smaller than the head of the bee.

Wow. That must be a REALLY tiny jumper then!
Have you measured the magnification you get with your Tamron 90 plus the tube? (use a metric ruler and compare the number of millimeters in a full frame image to the sensor width.)

I love macros but sure wouldn't want to meet that spider for real. Great shots. How big is it?

It gives me a 15mm wide frame for 1.58:1

Imagine if they were the size of dog, that would be scary, there probably a few around your house somewere, there very common.
Not sure on its size, the frame was 15mm across and the picture is cropped so it wasn't very big.
Thanks.
