This is a first for me to exercise enough patience to get this done!:biglaugh:
Today I decided I had to try out Macro. Was going to look for some bugs but was a bit windy outside so decided to concentrate on a flower instead. Had plenty of these around outside so picked one & brought it inside & tried a few settings.
Would appreciate some comments as to preferences & why so!
This is the actual flower

I think I like the second one and the last one best but the 2nd one is my favorite. Just the right amount of subdued colors to complement the blossom. These up-close and thin dof shots are right up my alley! :)

Thanks Kevin. Know what you mean. I think that they would have been better outside reather than with the lightbox background setup

Great start Rob, 3 and 4 are my favourites here. Great thing about this type of photography, you can experiment to your hearts content.

Thanks Bobby. You are right & I am learning that some thisngs appeal to some & not to others & the advice that I have picked up through others PM's to me is fabulous, mainly due to not wanting to openly offend me. All been great

Rob,
I'm going to go against the crowd here.
The color and composition in those is lovely. I think they are a little too soft, however. I'd like to see at least a tiny area that's sharp. What were your settings for the extreme closeups, and did you use a tripod?
I took some similar shots of a Bacopa flower a few years ago. Here's an example:

Hi Duncan. Thanks for your comments. Yes did use a tripod. Settings were F2.8 @ around 1/4 second exposure. Love your shot & that's about the DOF I am after. Regards
