....when I think a 1D Mk111 and a 500 f4 might not help me all that much.
It's been about three weeks since I was able to get out with my camera, or visit here --- except for a 30 second pass through to check for messages --- and this is one of my shots from today. Can anyone in the class say: "It's not the equipment, dummy --- it's the dummy, dummy!"
In my defense I point out I only was out about 30/40 minutes with the camera.
Cheers to all Pixel Shooters and may all your bald eagles have heads!

I came back here to show Penny the eagle picture and found the comments from Sam and Robert.
Sam, I'd not thought of taking pride in the legs! The problem with this shot isn't that I don't have a head. The problem is I didn't crop for the legs. And, why not? We see lots of bird shots cropped for the heads. Legs gotta be worth something.
And, Robert, after looking at your fine galleries it's a comfort to know you too may have shots like this one ---- you may have tonnes of these shots but your galleries are proof positive they wouldn't be among your best shots! Welcome to Pixel Shooters, Robert. Nice to see you here, and posting.
Cheers to all ......

Absolutely love the manicure work. Might this be an advertisement shot?
You always provide a smile and a chuckle in my life and given that, I will say that it's an awesome shot - it's unique!

LOL, I know how that feels, Sheldon! My condolences! :D
The best part is that we all get shots like that. We just don't post them! :biglaugh:

Aw, Sheldon you have come through once again. This is priceless, perfectly exposed, beautiful blue sky, gorgeous colours, what can one say. Do you know how many of these grace my trash barrel? Thanks for making my day.

Mike, Mao, Rudi, Ellen, Bobby, Ann, Ron ....
Thank you for your kind words and commiserations. This #$%*& eagle was beside the Trans-Canada Highway, sitting perhaps 30 feet up in a tree, looking down at his dinner ---- red fox road kill on the side of the road. How did the jingle go? "Mmmmm Mmmmm Good! That's what road kill fox is, Mmmm Mmmm Good!"
We took a couple of shots out the window of the truck, then got out and walked over, right underneath him ---- well, perhaps his tree was 50 feet off the side of the road, but it seemed we were right underneath him. He gave us 'the eye.' but wasn't about to let a white lens scare him off his road kill delight. I, on the other hand was tired of taking eagle-in-the-tree pictures. So, it was a bit of a stand off. After a while though, he decided enough was enough, and off he flew. I'd be pressed to claim I was ready. But I did manage to get a shot off.
In the end I was the clear winner, however. I was in my truck and had plenty of room to throw the fox remains up on the back. Roast road kill in an Alabama Stew for the family that night --- and well aged it was, too.
Cheers, Sheldon

Sheldon, the image is great. I guess the tree just jumped infront of the Eagles head just as you were taking the picture. I have had it happen several times recently so I know exactly how you feel!!! I had a moose that would only show me his rear end no matter where I walked to try to change the look, but as I walked around, it moved a little to just make it so I could not get a head shot.
Keep up the good shots!!!
