The weather looked very promising for Sunday, and the leaves were starting to turn to their brilliant fall colours. So I suggested to my wife that we make a day of hiking through some state parks in Minnesota. I suggested to her that if she was "in for a penny then she should be in for a pound". She asked me what I meant. I said that we have to pay homage to the "Mother Goddess" by welcoming the autumn sunrise. She said sure, as it was the equinox that this would be appropriate.
So we started out a 7a.m. ( late start for me....) and first went to the Thunder Bay harbour:

And gave thanks:

Another early morning riser:

A tracking beam?

Then we headed across the border. Still about a week early for the full colour explosion but some colours were there and the hiking made it worthwhile.

The rivers were running:

One more river to cross:

Thanks Mike...it was a very...very...nice day. Add to it the exhilaration of endorphins kicking in...it doesn't get much better!

Beautiful shots Bob. Love the sunsets

Thanks Rob. You always take the time to reply and leave a kind word. Thanks very much for that. ( p.s. they were sunrises )

Bob. When I retire the only sunrises I'm going to see are in the dead of winter and then only if it happens after 8:00 a.m. <grin>

(Okay that’s not true. I'll still get up before dawn to go take my hot air balloon shots. <Bigger grin>)

That first sunrise shot is my clear favourite.

Just curious, you said you crossed the border. Why head off to Minnesota, when you have all those great areas just outside of town?

Gene...we do have a beautiful country...but for visiting and hiking in parks...the Minnesotans have it all over us. When we want fall colour we also visit around the Nipigon - Rossport area in Ontario..about 2-2 1 1/2 hrs away..the border is only 1/2 hour away.
