I'm the opposite of Mike. For some reason it seemed too blue to me, like the WB was off. It may not be but that was my first impression. :)
Now, as for the 2nd one, I really like it. When I shoot these multi-petal flowers, I sometimes struggle with getting such a nice effect. I like how you focused on the one petal and everything else goes oof. I seem to pick the wrong petal, it seems. ;)

I think this is the essence of photography, or at least the urge to want to take photos and share with your viewers, for me anyway.
And to quote Ansel Adams: "There are always two people in every picture: the photographer and the viewer."
For the record the first one is obviously post processed, and I like the mood, but not necessary the colour either... The original was a lot paler, the splashes of white and pale green in the background are leaves from a bed of social garlic (grass or onion like), white with pale green streaks. Vignetting introduced, and I will blame it all on Lightroom for providing so many ways to manipulate an image...

I know what you mean about multi-petal flowers Kevin, you should see my non-keepers... ;).
Thanks again for your feedback, keep them coming!

Both are very beautiful. The color in #1 is unusual, but it still works for me. Wonderful DOF in the second and gorgeous colors.

Thank you Rob, Pam and Sally.
I didn't realise how obvious the strange colour would be for the first one, it seems to be the first impression for most of you. Hmm...

Jonathan

I'm just a point and shoot guy so #1 doesn't bother me. But I really like the second shot.
Nice!
