Talk about a shot in the dark...
I really wasn't too pleased with my shots. I felt like I've done better. I took two bodies, the 30D and 5D, with the 200 f/2.8 and 85 f/1.8, respectively. I thought the 5D and 85, would give me a little edge in the dark endzone area. Actually, the two bodies sort of distracted me. I think next time, I'll stick with the 200 on the 30D. I need the KISS method (keep it simple stupid):D

Tough conditions to be shooting sports. You did great with these. As always.

Great action Jeff, number 2 is great, everyones horizontal. Interesting comment about the two bodies.

I think that you did quite well again Jeff. Good action captures, all of them. This looks like a real football game too - bad weather and mud......how it should be played.

Tell that to the prissy boys in the NFL. Especially the prissy ones with a domed stadium...and that includes my worthless Lions.

Hi Jeff:

Wonderful actions shots! I like the second one as well. Jeff, do you just prefer the 30D over the 5D with the 200 f2.8?

Lisa,
Hard to say. I've used the 30D the most, because of the 1.6 crop factor, giving me a bit more range. Of course the 30D also has faster motor, 5fps vs 3fps on 5D.
Having said that, I might start using the 5D more. I didn't have long enough lens on this past weekend. I did notice a few differences. The 5D did focus and lock focus a bit quicker, the noise performance was much better. And for some reason I could shoot at 1600, rather than 3200..and still get the same metered exposure settings.
All I know for sure, is next weekend, I'm only going to use one camera. Having two was distracting, and I'm not nearly good enough to shoot with distractions.:)

practice makes perfect, overall looks like you handled it quite well.... I hear you on the sharing bodies piece. Did you use flash in the first shot? Cant say Im overly pleased with the speedlights on Canon ;(

THe week before, I used a 30D and 200 f/2.8, with 580EX. Settings were ISO 3200, f/2.8...at 1/500, with 1 1/2 + exposure comp, and flash set to Hsync..(syncs at all speeds,) manual 1/1 power.
Here's my favorite shot from last week.

Flash is pretty helpful at higher sync speeds, and the play is close to you..or the endzone. I'm thinking of going with no flash this week. I'll have it..just take some shots without it.

Well, I preferred the 5D, but just sold the 30D, to get a MarkIIn. So we'll see how that goes.
