Looking at taking the leap, could anyone give an idea what pro prices are on this.
Online is always high. What wattage would be recommended. Out doors bright sun shooting and in studio of course. I am west coast Canada.

I don't think there are any screaming bargains on this anywhere. Elinchrom can afford to price it amy way they want, since it is a unique modifier. Most people I know order from B&H, although I bought mine locally when the Aussie dollar took a dive against the USD and it actually became marginally cheaper to buy it over here.

If you're gonna use it outside in full sun, you will need at least 600Ws! I use the Elinchrom Ranger on location, which gives me 1100Ws on full power with one head, and there have been times when I was shooting less than one stop down from full. But... it depends on what you're trying to achieve - I like to underexpose ambient by a stop or two, to highlight the subject and offer images that stand apart from the rest. And our sun can be somewhat bright...

One last thing - AFAIK, the only readily available adapter for the Elinchrom mount is for Profoto. There is no commercial speed ring adapter for Hensel, or AB, or any other brand that I know of. If you want to use the Deep Octa, you will either have to buy an Elinchrom head (or Profoto), or fashion an adapter yourself somehow (not sure how feasible that is). Just keep that in mind...

Thanks Rudy, things are picking up over here, and my partner wants to start expanding our lights.
The deep octa is a must. And 600wps seems limiting . I don't want to upgrade after this next spending stint. Thanks again

If you do a lot of location shoots, then the Ranger is a no-brainer, Dave. In fact, I would rather sell my RX600 strobes than let go of the Ranger, even for studio use.

Sorry I did not get back on this sooner, one question the rx diff and bx would either one do low wattage shooting like 10watts per sec, I ask because there are some on the market that shoot 8watts and up. Do these lights do this, I have searched for the answer on site but maybe I am reading spec wrong. I know the 1/10th intervals but what would be the lowest watts. so lights 7ft away with large softbox what would be your most open f stop at the strobes lowest setting.

With the Ranger RX Speed AS, I can shoot as low as 5.7Ws (on port B). I don't have a corresponding F stop for you, but it's pretty wide open at those powers.

Default Professional Style [Nightshift]

We use a photoflex 7' Octabox with a 900ws strobe and the light is simply awesome. We are shooting at 1/125 - f10 - ISO200 Octabox is about 5' from subject .

Hey Jeff, we were trying to get away from f10 as some situations make it tough for separations.
But no dollar value can be put on good light for sure.
7ft octa would be tough to fill without that kind of power no doubt.
We are finding it fantastic with the Ellinchromes but need more shoot threw diffusers to help the umbrellas.
Just looking for a hair light to go with the three 600's we have. Sky ports are in place also.

Hey Rudy, hows things, the rx300 is what also high speed?? I have to read more.
We certainly don't need another 600 up there. I seem to get the model to jump and get great sharp shots from the 600, hmm . Just looking at prices for the others they seem quite pricey, and wonder why, they must be super fast.
